Chrome showing black screen when opening/reopening
Posted by Joshua Doades on 14 September 2017 09:51 AM

If you are using Chrome web browser and are getting a black screen either when you first open it, or when you re-open it please follow the following steps to try to combat the issue.

First you will have to open up Chrome, without a black screen. If your Chrome browser opens up black and you can not do anything, please contact 3283, give us your PC name and we will either remotely fix it, or re-image your computer.

If you can open Chrome and it only goes black once you minimise it and re-open it, please try the following steps to combat this:

  1. open Chrome and go to Settings Show advanced settings
  2. Disable the Use hardware acceleration when available option
  3. Restart Chrome

(You can use the search bar at the top of the settings page to search for this setting if you can not see it when scrolling)

If this still does not work, please contact us to have your PC re-imaged.
